SAP Serves New Technology in Istanbul
In an effort to provide tennis players, coaches and fans with improved analytics, SAP AG recently announced during the TEB BNP Paribas WTA Championships – Istanbul that it is again partnering with the WTA to unveil its new interactive analytics program under the SAP HANA platform.
This program allows player coaches access to post-match, point-by-point analysis, enabling coaches to hone in on fine details; coaches can also analyze their player’s opponents and strategize matches accordingly. Information is tailored depending on what analysis type is desired.
“An increased understanding of my player and her opponent’s game can give me an edge that could mean the difference between winning and losing,” said Agnieszka Radwanska’s coach Tomasz Wiktorowski. “Access to tailored SAP data is making a real difference to the way coaches work. We can now provide players with more strategic advice, improving their preparation and ultimately on court performance.”
Spectating within Istanbul’s main stadium has become more visually engaging as fans can view unique in-depth statistics on their favorite players. Sinan Erdem Dome’s big flat screen showcases player improvements, comparisons and key statistics on WTA’s best competing in Istanbul.

Given TGA pioneered a youth sports franchise model making tennis accessible to youth and families through curriculum developed alongside the USTA, USPTA board members recognized that partnering with TGA could fruitfully create new business ownership and job opportunities.
“TGA has developed a new generation model that could change the way we grow the sport of tennis,” said USPTA CEO John Embree. “To be able to provide a proven business model and increase the offering of full and part-time job opportunities to our members is critical for the future of our association and for our sport.”
