Tennis superstar Novak Djokovic draws up a clear goal for the rest of his career. Novak can imagine playing tennis at the age of 40 and does not think of retiring any time before his 33rd birthday.
“I don’t believe in limits,” the tennis star commented on the US TV show “In Depth with Graham Bensinger” and added, “Maybe I’ll still play at 40.” Djokovic will be celebrating his birthday next Friday.
Novak Djokovic, the current world No. 1, wants to become the most successful player in Grand Slam tournaments in the remaining years of his career. In his career, Djokovic has won 17 times in one of the four most important tournaments in the tennis calendar. Only Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have triumphed more. Which often happen at the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon or US Open.
Djokovic says he still has a lot he wants to achieve in his career.
“I think I still have a lot to do in this sport. I believe I can win the majority of Grand Slams and break the record for being at the top of the world rankings, for the longest amount of time. These are my goals,” said Djokovic, who has been at the top of the world rankings for 282 weeks so far., so far, for an overall 282 weeks. With Federer leading this ranking at an amazing total of 310 weeks. With the long-retired Pete Sampras (USA) following in second place with 286 weeks.

Here is a brief look back on some highlights of his career in the past 5 years.
In 2016 he won the career Grand Slam. At the French Open, he beat Andy Murray, who had previously defeated him in the Wimbledon and US Open finals. He also reached the final at the US Open, but had to surrender to Stan Wawrinka.
With the tournament victory in Doha in 2017, he celebrated a title on the ATP tour for the twelfth year in a row. The rest of his year was not as planned. Due to injuries, he dropped to seventh place in the ranking, for the first time since 2007. He played the last match of the season at Wimbledon in July, where he was injured in the quarterfinals against Tomas Berdych. It wasn’t until the Australian Open 2018 that he returned to the pitch after a six-month break.
In 2018, the right-hander was going up again, Novak fought his way back to the top of the world rankings with a series of 22 wins in a row. Winning the Wimbledon title once again. He succeeded again the following year when he was able to fend off two match balls against Roger Federer in the longest Wimbledon final in history and converted his own match ball after almost five hours.
At the beginning of 2020 Djokovic again showed his strength in Melbourne. In the eighth final, he won the eighth title at the Australian Open by defeating Dominic Thiem in five sets. After a long break away from sport, we are all keen to get back into it and to see how well the professionals have been maintaining their game.
